An Fine Russian Empire ormolu or gilt bronze figural statue group on Malachite. Russian, circa: 1805-1810. Measuring: 8" high by 5" wide. Weight: 10 pounds.
The fine Russian bronze group depicts a winged Psyche holding a floral wreath raised above a flaming Athenienne supported by three classical legs on a stepped plinth. The bronze is mounted upon a Malachite rectangular base.
Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.
