French Empire Bronze And Ormolu Statue Clock - Planchon
A fine French 2nd Empire ormolu or gilt bronze and patinated bronze figural statue clock by Planchon. French, Circa: 1800's. Measuring: 19" high by 6.75" across the base. Weight: 25 pounds.

The bronze clock in the form of a female maiden in the Egyptian manner supports the ormolu mounted movement within the folds of her garment. The figure is mounted and rests upon an ormolu and deep lavender marble plinth. Movement signed "Planchon a Paris" on enamel dial. Movement impressed "PLANCHON PARIS". The time only platform escapement movement is designed to slide in and out at will and carefully locks into place with a slight turn clock wise.

Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. Original patina present and intact. Gilding on ormolu original and intact.
