A Fine and Exceptional Pair of Charles the X ormolu or gilt bronze and patinated bronze three light wall sconces. This pair although very Empire and Neoclassical fall under the reign of the Charles the X period which followed directly after the Empire period. French, circa: 1815-1825. 9.5" wide by 6" high.
An exceptional pair of Neoclassical sconces or Wall-Lights. Each backplate in the form of an ornate medallion supporting three scroll branches and candle-nozzles.
Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. Original patina present and intact. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact. |
