A Fine 2nd Empire ormolu or gilt bronze box with time piece. French, Napoleon III, circa:
1850-1860. Measuring: 3.5" wide by 2.25" deep.
An exceptional box in Neoclassical form. The top fitted with its period movement. The
movement signed " A. H. Rodanet Paris". The interior of the box is lined with Shagreen (Shark
skin).
High quality casting with very sharp crisp details through out the entire box. Stunning soft
matte gilding accented by brilliant burnished areas of gilding for contrast and beauty.
Overall excellent condition. Original gilding still intact. original key lacking. Accuracy of time
piece unknown.
