A Louis XVI French gilt bronze or
Ormolu frame. Paris, circa: 1785-1795. Measuring: Site Size: 2.5"
across with the entire frame measuring a full : 7" high by 5.5" wide.
This frame may have been created for an important
miniature painting or portrait on Ivory, or possibly due to the size of the opening of the
round area this may well have been the case for a cartel clock.
Lost wax method used to create the fine detail and quality cast bronze work with hand chasing. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original in tact.
