French Empire Bronze Ormolu Miniature Model Of A Vase
A Fine French Empire ormolu or gilt bronze miniature or petite vase on A Lapis hardstone plinth. French ( possibly Russian ), Circa: 1805-1810. Measuring: 5.75" high.

The fine and detailed ormolu vase is done in the neoclassical manner. The two handled vase is mounted in relief with cupid holding his finger to his lips as to imply a whisper or telling a secret. his out streched wings behind him. He holds his bow in his left hand while his quiver of arrows is upon his back tied with a silk sash. The vase is supported upon a Lapis Lazuli plinth mounted with an ormolu circular classical wreath of flowers surounding a lyre at center.

Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.
