A Fine 17th century carved marble bust of a Roman on bronze and marble socle. Italian, Circa: 1690-1720. Measuring: 6.75" high. Weight: 5 pounds.
The bust depicts a Roman Emperor with head and upper torso draped in classical garment. Mounted upon a patinated bronze socle and a marble column plinth with bronze circular base.
Original patina intact. Marble has smooth surface and is not dried out. Ancient fracture right shoulder.
Marble is encrusted with burial material. The back exhibits traces of minute crystalizing in two locations, possibly indicating bust is of Ancient origins originally and or carved from a sample of marble dating to the 1st-2nd century AD. Bronze and Marble socle date to the 1700's.
