A Fine and Exceptional large single Charles the X ormolu or gilt bronze and patinated bronze four light wall sconce. This wall light although very Empire and Neoclassical fall under the reign of the Charles the X period which followed directly after the Empire period. French, circa: 1815-1825. 12.5" high by 10" wide.
A large single Neoclassical sconce or Wall-Light. The backplate in the form of an ornate medallion supporting four branches and candle-nozzles. Original flame candle snuffer center top.
Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. Original patina present and intact. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact. |
