Literature:
The present pair is inspired from a large group of wall-lights delivered for use in the Royal
Palaces from about 1775. A similar pair at Fontainebleau is illustrated and discussed in the
catalogue of 'Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entre sous le Premier Empire' part 1 of the
catalog of the contents of the Chateau. Another similar pair is in the J. Paul Getty Museum,
Malibu, and is illustrated by Ottomeyer and Proschel, 'Vergoldete Bronzen, fig. 3.5.4.'
together with Prieur's design, fig 3.5.3, also in the Getty Museum.
