A Fine 2nd Empire ormolu or gilt bronze and hardstone mounted vase. French, Napoleon
III, circa: 1850-1860. Measuring: 13.75" high Weight: 10 pounds.
Fine vase in the manner of Pierre-Phillipe Thomire who first created this form during first
French Empire. This vase is a scarce one as it's an ormolu mounted hardstone vase with rich
and varied colors that are superbly mounted in bronze. This would make a stunning lamp
and would be easy to convert without affecting the integrity of the piece.
High quality casting with very sharp crisp details through out the entire work of art. The
harstone body is a solid specimen and very possibly Russian in origin. Stunning soft matte
gilding accented by brilliant burnished areas of gilding for contrast and beauty.
