A fine Louis XVI ormolu or gilt bronze mounted Agate snuff box. French, circa: 1770-1780.
Measuring: 2.5" across by 1" high.
A very early and rare Agate specimen snuff box. Round snuff boxes are scarce and not easy
to find. The outside of the box is done in floral work as well as the bottom is full decorated in
the same theme.
Fine original condition created using the lost wax method. Hand chased and mercury gilded.
The original gold is still in tact and brilliant. The inside is breath taking as the amount of gold
used almost looks poured in like a pool of golden water. The bottom of the box is so well
finished you can see your reflection in it the same as a mirror.
Superb box, Museum quality.
