A Fine Louis XV gilt bronze Ormolu
mounted agate snuff box. French, circa: 1730-1740. Measuring: 3"
wide by 2.5" deep by 1.5" high.
This box reveals cherubs in relief as
The bottom exhibits a swan or bird in fine detail.
Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.
