A Large and Important pair of Louis XVI style gilt bronze mounted
Sienna marble urns. French, circa: 1800's. Measuring: 24" high.
Weighing over 50+ pounds. This large pair are solid specimens of the
now mined to extinction Sienna Yellow marble. Sienna marble stone
found great popularity during the 18th century and by the early 19th
century was being close to being used up. Now this rare stone is
prized for all objects containing it.
Very fine casting using the lost wax
method. superior gilding and all original and in tact. This Is the largest
pair I have ever had.
Similar pairs of exact size and ormolu mounts
using Malachite were created by the Russians during this time. So this
may be related to that market and or Russian themselves.
